AI and Faith Welcomes New Advisor and Four Contributing Fellows

We are delighted to welcome a new distinguished Advisor in the area of faith/work integration and four new Contributing Fellows in the US and Mexico who are joining our Contributing Fellow Content, Programs and Communications Teams.

Marsie Sweetland (Advisor – technology products and Faith ERG leadership) is a Client Executive with Equinix, the world’s digital infrastructure company, where customers come to run their performance and compliance sensitive AI workloads in a cost effective manner across the globe. Marsie works with some of Equinix’s largest global cloud customers, and is the longest-tenured female employee at Equinix. Marsie is the founder of Equinix FaithConnect which is open to all faiths, non-faiths, and worldviews. FaithConnect’s three pillars are Invite, Learn and Respect, with a mission to inspire a culture of learning and respect in the workplace.  Marsie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California Santa Cruz.

Katie Williamson (Communications Team Contributing Expert) is an MBA candidate in the pioneering MBAI track at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.  Prior to entering business school, Katie was an associate and senior consultant with Bain Consulting in their Atlanta office.   Katie’s interest in artificial intelligence stems from a fascination with hidden connections between datasets that can be used to solve problems and help us better understand the world around us. Her interest in AI&F’s mission grows out of a desire to help companies across industries grapple with the impact that the technologies they’re adopting can have on the humans that interact with them – both positive and perhaps unintentionally negative.  Katie earned dual Bachelor of Arts  degrees in economics and mathematics at Vanderbilt University.

Ethan Harvey (Contributing Expert, Content Team) is a Ph.D. Student at the Tufts University Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Lab in the Department of Computer Science. Ethan’s areas of research focus are human-computer interaction, data science, and machine learning. Ethan’s interest in AI and Faith’s mission grows out of his Christian faith (he is a member at a Presbyterian Church). He graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics minor from Grove City College, where he worked with Dr. Jonathan Hutchins on acoustic gait analysis using unsupervised learning.

Sean Oesch (Contributing Expert, Content Team ) is a cybersecurity research scientist at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. Previously Sean served as a software engineer for the US Air Force.  Outside his day job, Sean has a strong interest in ethical application of technology tools for faith mission and ministry.  Sean holds bachelors of science degrees in computer science and electrical engineering and a Masters degree in software engineering from Mercer University and a PhD in computer engineering from the University of Tennessee.

Pablo A. Ruz Salmones (Contributing Expert, Programs Team) is the Chief Executive Officer at X eleva Group (www.xeleva.com), a Software Development, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Business Consulting firm headquartered in Mexico City. He has spoken on AI and Ethics in Mexico, the US, and other countries, and appears regularly on TV and radio shows in México helping people think about the relationship between art, religion, sustainable development, and technology. He studied Business Engineering and Computer Engineering at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México in Mexico City, where he is also a member of the advisory board for the Computer Engineering program. He also took a Data Science program at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Pablo is both a pianist and a composer, having performed in México, New Zealand, and the United States. In his free time, Pablo studies at a modeling agency, does origami, reads, and plays chess.

We’re looking forward to working together with Marsie, Katie, Ethan, Sean and Pablo to “encourage, connect, and equip” across our Research Fellows, other Advisors, Contributing Fellows and out into our Network of Networks.
