07novAll DayTheological Foundations for Moral Artificial Intelligence

Event Details

On November 7, the Pacific Coast Theological Society Fall Meeting will focus on  “Theological Foundations for Moral Artificial Intelligence”.  The event is free but advance registration is required and can be done here.   This four hour conference by Zoom will focus on a paper by Dr. Mark Graves on that subject, discussed by two respondents: Brian Green (Santa Clara University) and Katy Dickinson (Pacific School of Religion). Then, a multidisciplinary discussion follows by all the meeting participants with queued questions, interjected points, and lively discussion.  Dr. Graves is a data scientist with postdoctoral training in genomics and psychology, and additional graduate work in philosophical theology.  He worked at Baylor College of Medicine on the Human Genome Project, at Fuller Theological Seminary, and at Caltech on empirical research in moral psychology and neuroscience of virtue. Dr. Graves also incorporated theology and ethics into computer science and engineering courses at Santa Clara University and Notre Dame.
