AI and Faith Welcomes Two New Experts

Fernando Mora (Advisor) (Maracay-Venezuela, 1953) has been a professor at Simón Bolívar University in Caracas (Venezuela) and St. George’s University (Grenada). With postgraduate studies in the US and France, he developed outstanding academic work in bioengineering, being a pioneer in the field in South America. He co-founded the Grupo de Bioingeniería y Biofísica Aplicada (GBBA) which engaged in research in medical intelligent instrumentation and image processing. At St. George’s University he was part of a team that in 2009 started two on-line MBA programs, one of them in Health Management, where Fernando taught Health Information Management. Currently Fernando is also a Visiting Professor at Universidad Internacional de Valencia (Spain) where he is supervising graduate work in digital health.

From 1983 to 2009 he was a bi-vocational pastor and church planter in the metropolitan area of Caracas. From 2004 to 2008 he also served as Latin American coordinator for La Viña Movement. Since 2010, he has dedicated himself to researching the growth and changes in the evangelical church in Latin America, publishing a book and numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Currently his interest is focused on the study of the leadership of neo-apostolic churches, as well as in the field of applications of artificial intelligence in religion in general, with particular emphasis on the evangelical world. He is married to Nora Méndez, a pastor and feminist theologian. They have four children and eight grandchildren who are part of the immense Venezuelan diaspora.

Benny Xian (Programs) is an engineer, entrepreneur, and founder of AI+C. Benny is passionate about building innovative technology ventures from hardware, software, advanced/predictive analytics (AI), consumer, to enterprise. Many of which focused on disruptive innovations coined by Professor Clayton Christensen at Harvard. Previously, he has played key roles from product engineering (Actel), product (Transmeta IPO: TMTA), to operations (Midori Linux developed by Linus Torvalds), to co-founding and investing (BeyondCore – acquired by SalesForce), to creating Voyadi and Project AI+C. After more than ten thousand hours of building technology companies, he recognizes technology by itself isn’t enough in the era of AI. Compassion, as it turns out, is essential as machines are becoming more human-like. He graduated from Stanford University with a MS in electrical engineering and a BSEE with high honors from University of Florida.
