In this wide ranging conversation, we dive into the impacts of AI on war, conflict, and the law. We explore how the ethics of war may change due to the rise of artificial intelligence, and of course what we can learn from our various religions and religious traditions to help us act ethically as we move into this future.

Meet the Speakers:

Host: Gilad Berenstein Is currently working in venture capital in Seattle after founding and leading a successful travel personalization startup and serving as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2). Gilad holds masters and undergraduate degrees from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.

Mark Chinen is a Professor of Law at the Seattle University School of Law, where he teaches courses in artificial intelligence and legal responsibility (among others).  Mark authored a 2019 book on the law of autonomous machines and the forthcoming The International Governance of Artificial Intelligence. He is also a Fellow of the Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and Equality.  Mark received his law degree from Harvard Law School and previously earned bachelors and masters degrees at Pomona College and Yale Divinity School.

Andrew DeBerry is currently President of Arimathea Investing and USAF reserves officer for U.S. Cyber Command. He has led AI initiatives at Meta, Google X, AWS, and Microsoft; served on the board for SENT Ventures and Knownwell; spoken for the UK Royal Society, the Vatican, and Stanford GSB; and studied engineering, Catholic Social Teaching, and Public Policy at Notre Dame, and Masters in Business & Arabic at Wharton-Lauder.

Vineet Rajan is a multi-time founder and CEO, board member, former Marine, and expert in mental fitness and leadership. Currently, the cofounder and CEO of Forte, Vineet has raised millions of dollars to democratize mental health access through the creation of the fastest-growing mental fitness platform serving thousands of employees. He has worked with dozens of organizations like Google, Acumen, Skoll Foundation and leaders including Heads of State, Congressmen, Generals, and CEOs to empower organizations through individual transformation. With an MBA from Stanford, Masters in International Relations from the University of Cambridge (w/ Distinction) and over a decade of leadership experience, Vineet is widely relied upon by senior leaders. Vineet serves as an expert in AI and Faith, as a Strategic Advisor to the Founders Mental Health Pledge, a Praxis fellow, a member of the Christian Economic Forum, and on the board of his local church.
