Rethinking Death by Algorithm

Rida Ejaz

Rida Ejaz is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame, specializing in integrating peacebuilding expertise into AI ethics. Her continuing research interests include the intersection of technology and democracy, the use of deliberative tools for conflict resolution, and the ethical governance of artificial intelligence.

Alongside her studies, Rida works as an AI researcher at Isamlicity, where she focuses on qualitatively fine-tuning a large language model chatbot for Islamic queries to ensure ethical and principled responses. Prior to this role, she served with Religions for Peace, engaging faith-based leaders in shaping AI ethics, advocating against autonomous weapons, and promoting responsible AI awareness. At Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute, she has contributed to building ethical frameworks for AI chatbots designed to counter online hate speech and hate crimes, enhancing large language models for the Civic Health Project.
