Is a Scholar in Residence and Director of New Media at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, where he writes and teaches about religion and technology, and produces several podcasts. He received a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania with a dissertation on the relationship between Jewish history and the history of technology, and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in medieval Islamic law.
