We are excited and very gratified to announce the award of a grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust of $360,000 that enables us to immediately launch an aggressive campaign to identify and recruit AI and Faith’s first full time, paid Executive Director. This position offers an unprecedented opportunity for someone with the skillset and knowledge we are seeking (described here) to manage our extraordinary community of experts and partner organizations at a moment when catalyzing awareness and cooperation across the faith world to gain the AI we want has never been more opportune or necessary.
Our Board of Directors is launching a broad search for our first Executive Director this month with a goal of receiving applications through June, conducting a rolling review and interviews with finalists and filling the position by August 1. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of experience in nonprofit leadership; development skills; an understanding and appreciation for our mission in bringing faith values and the leverage of the faith world to the AI ethics debate at speed and scale; and the ability to work skillfully and effectively with our existing and vitally important teams of volunteer leaders and contributors spread across 20 countries, major world religions, and dozens of disciplines. The position will pay $135K-$150K dependent upon experience, with benefits to be determined in the hiring process.
If you are interested in this role, please let us know of your interest and qualifications, with additional information on applying in the job description. Or, if you know someone who is qualified that our Board should consider for the role, please contact us at people@aiandfaith.org and/or ask them to apply.
We are very grateful to the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, created by the will of the late Melvin J. (Jack) Murdock, for this grant. The Trust is one of the rare philanthropic organizations that directly support such new staffing roles and this grant will play a vital role in strengthening the already remarkable work of our Board, our teams of volunteer leaders and experts, and our current part-time contractual roles. The Trust provides grants, programs, initiatives, and convenings for nonprofit organizations in five states of the Pacific Northwest—Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington—that seek to strengthen the region’s educational, social, spiritual, and cultural base in creative and sustainable ways.
Our board wishes to also recognize and thank our AI and Faith experts Mark Graves, Lewis McMurran, Michael Paulus, and our wonderful Program Coordinator Penny Yuen, for their vital contributions to this 18 month grant application process, as well as the reputational and financial support and encouragement of our new Strategy and Finance Advisory Team and the vital donations of our experts, members, and other donors.
To help our new Executive Director hit the ground running with the resources needed to grow our impact, please consider making a financial contribution to AI and Faith through this link. If you are not already a member, fellow, or advisor at AIF, annual donations of $100 or more will bring you into Our Member community.
