IRS recognizes AI and Faith as a Tax Exempt Organization:
On December 19, 2018, the IRS issued a determination letter that AI and Faith is exempt from federal income tax and is qualified to receive tax-deductible donations and gifts. This determination came only two months after AI and Faith submitted its application and (fortunately) before the government shutdown.
Many thanks to nonprofit and tax lawyers Erin Letey and Tim Hogan at the Seattle office of Fox Rothschild for their invaluable assistance with the successful application.
As AI and Faith enters its second year, we has created a solid website and recruited a highly credible group of Founding Experts and institutional partners. With good governance and formal tax-exempt status in place, AI and Faith’s board and Founding Experts and partners are in a strong position to continue to build a sophisticated community of experts and partners who can speak from diverse faith perspectives effectively into the rapidly emerging discussion over ethical and beneficial development of AI-powered technologies.
