Meet our Speakers
Pablo A. Ruz Salmones is the Chief Executive Officer at Xeleva Group a Software Development, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Business Consulting firm. Pablo has spoken on AI and Ethics in Mexico, the US, and other countries, and appears regularly on TV and radio shows in México to discuss the relationship between art, religion, sustainable development, and technology. Pablo studied Business Engineering and Computer Engineering at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México in Mexico City.
Dr. Ali-Reza Bhojani is Assistant Professor in Islamic Ethics in the department of Theology & Religion at The University of Birmingham and Honorary Fellow at the Al-Mahdi Institute. His research, teaching, and writing focusses on intersections between Islamic legal theory, theology, and ethics. Ali-Reza has been a Research Fellow at AI and Faith since 2022.
Rev. Dr. Maria Joseph Israel, SJ is an assistant professor of Computer Science at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, and a visiting scholar at Santa Clara University. His current research addresses the impact on the world of computing technology, particularly data and automation systems like AI. Dr. Israel holds a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Santa Clara University where he also taught Computer Science and Engineering and led research projects on knowledge engineering, data provenance, system storage technology, and AI and Ethics.
Dr. David Zvi Kalman is a Scholar in Residence and Director of New Media at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, where he writes and teaches about religion and technology, and produces several podcasts. He received a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania with a dissertation on the relationship between Jewish history and the history of technology, and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in medieval Islamic law.
