Meet our speakers:
Host: Gilad Berenstein is currently working in venture capital in Seattle after founding and leading a successful travel personalization startup and serving as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2). Gilad holds masters and undergraduate degrees from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.
Douglas Estes, PhD, is associate professor of religion at New College of Florida and is author of numerous books and articles on Bible and theology, including many focused on technology such as Braving the Future: Christian Faith in a World of Limitless Tech (2018). His latest edited books include Artificial Intelligence for Bible Translation and Interpretation (2026), and with Marcus Schwarting, 40 Bible Passages on AI (2026). Douglas contributes articles on faith, science and technology to news outlets such as Christianity Today. He received his PhD in Theology from the University of Nottingham, two Masters in Theology from Southeastern Seminary, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry.
Marcus Schwarting (PhD, CS, University of Chicago) is the senior editor of AI and Faith and an AI researcher at SUNY Buffalo. His research is focused on applying ML/AI to problems in chemistry and materials science. His technical work has been published at venues including Nature Scientific Data, NeurIPS, and the Journal of Chemical Physics. His work on AI ethics has been published in Christianity Today, the Journal of Theology and Science, and the Journal of Lutheran Ethics.
