AI is rapidly evolving, and AI and Faith stands at a strategic and dynamic location where religious wisdom and ethics intersect with this powerful technology. Since last December—when I had just begun my position as Executive Director—I’ve been collaborating with the board on revising our mission and vision statements to create a strong rallying cry as we can join in this work. I’ve also spent months listening to key thinkers inside and outside of AI and Faith, as well as what we say and produce publicly. For these reasons and more, I’m pleased to announce that our board has just approved revised mission and vision statements, here they are.
Mission
Empowering faith traditions, technologists, and civil society to cultivate wisdom, advance human flourishing and dignity, and shape technology responsibly in the age of artificial intelligence.
Vision
AI and Faith is a global network of faith leaders and communities, scholars, technologists, ethicists, educators, and partner organizations, working for a future in which artificial intelligence serves humankind under five strategic pillars.

These statements demonstrate the multi-faceted, collaborative, and inter-religious way of AI and Faith, and they call us to a high level of engagement. I’m particularly enthusiastic about this phrase and the way it offers an elevating vision: “working for a future in which artificial intelligence serves humankind.”
